Sberbank of the Russian Federation calls for the postponement of the issuance of digital ruble

According to Jinse Finance, Russia previously announced that the issuance date of digital ruble is July 1, 2025, which has been legislated. However, representatives of Sber, the Federal Savings Bank of Russia, called for the postponement of the issuance of digital ruble, because the related Central Bank Digital Money (CBDC) platform is still under development. It is reported that Sber's market share of deposits accounts for about 45% of the entire Russia. If the bank is not prepared, it may affect the issuance of digital ruble.
