The Beacon: The Beginning of a New Era for Web3 Games?
The emergence of The Beacon game marks a potential new development stage in the Web3 gaming sector. Unlike earlier GameFi projects that were finance-driven, The Beacon places gameplay at the forefront, a shift that is worth noting.
The Beacon is a game that combines elements of fantasy, action, and RPG, while also incorporating Roguelite features to increase the challenge of the game. It supports various modes including single-player PvE, multiplayer cooperative PvE, and social interactions, providing players with a rich gaming experience.
The game design focuses on skill and challenge, with weapons of varying difficulty to meet the needs of different players. At the same time, The Beacon adopts a free-to-play model, lowering the entry barrier. Even without paid characters, players can experience the basic gameplay, obtain non-NFT decorations, and even have a chance to win game tokens and other rewards.
Paying players have more privileges, such as obtaining NFT decorations and participating in leaderboards. Although the genesis characters in the game do not have rarity distinctions, the characters and house decoration NFTs are unique, allowing players to showcase their individuality.
The Beacon also introduces a pet system with scarcity. 4096 Genesis pets as the 0th generation, each with different visual traits and rarity. Pets can breed offspring, pass on traits, adding fun and economic value to the game.
As part of the TreasureDAO ecosystem, The Beacon may potentially interact with other games in the future to create new gameplay. The game plans to use MAGIC and BCN as in-game tokens, but the specific economic mechanism design has not yet been disclosed.
